Frequently Asked Questions
Does Screening Room upload my photos or videos?
Screening Room is designed to perform its core processing on your iPhone. Files can remain in Files, iCloud Drive, NAS, or another supported storage location instead of being moved into a separate in-app vault. Please review the Privacy Policy for full details about data handling.
Why am I asked to grant file access again?
iOS manages access to external and cloud-based file locations. You may need to select a file again after it is moved, renamed, downloaded again, or when system permissions change.
What should I do if Face ID or Touch ID does not work?
Confirm that biometric authentication is enabled for Screening Room in system settings and that Face ID or Touch ID is configured on your iPhone. You can also unlock the app with your app password.
What if I forget my password?
Use the recovery code you saved during setup. Store the recovery code offline and separately from your encrypted files. For your security, never send your password or recovery code by email.
Why can’t I play a file stored in iCloud or another cloud service?
Check your internet connection, confirm that the file has finished downloading, and make sure you are signed in to the related cloud storage app. Some providers may remove local cached copies and require the file to be downloaded again.
How do I continue using the app on a new iPhone?
Make sure your encrypted files are fully synced to a location available on the new iPhone, and keep your password and recovery code available. In-app purchases can be restored using the same Apple ID that was used for the original purchase.
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
Sign in to the App Store with the Apple ID used for the purchase, then choose “Restore Purchases” from the purchase screen in Screening Room. If restoration still fails, email us the approximate purchase date, storefront country or region, and the error message. Do not send a full payment receipt or other sensitive information.
Will deleting the app delete my encrypted files?
Files stored in Files, iCloud Drive, NAS, or another external location are generally not deleted automatically when you remove the app. However, app settings, access records, and data stored only inside the app may be lost. Before deleting the app, verify that important files, your password, and your recovery code are safely backed up.
Which file formats are supported?
Playback compatibility depends on iOS, the file container, video or audio codec, and iPhone capabilities. If a file cannot be played, send us the format, codec details, and error message. You do not need to send the original file if it contains private content.
Security Tips
- Keep your password and recovery code in a safe place, with at least one offline backup.
- Never share your password or recovery code through email, chat, or screenshots.
- When moving, renaming, or syncing large files, wait for the operation to finish before closing the app or disconnecting.
- Before modifying or migrating important files, keep a separate backup that you can verify.
